Original artwork. Acrylic on Paper 32x22Inch.

Created 2012

Unknown love, was the third early work created three months after discovering my new passion for painting and the beginning of my journey in prison, in 2012.

This painting was inspired by a reoccurring dream of a woman standing on the water and whose face I could not see or recognised and that would disappear as I walked toward her. Looking back I can only assume that it was due to the uncertainty of a passionate experience would take place.

That was a very hard time in my life. I had been detained in March and was just denied bail and my old life was crushed. I had to close my photography studio and hand my life and myself over to complete uncertainty. I lost control over what would happen next.

Here was where I discovered the calming therapy of painting.

The painful loss of an old life led to a new beginning for me and that is why I have included this work in the special purchase collection. I hope it brings a sense of renewal in the most difficult of times.

Gallop LR

Original artwork. Acrylic on Canvas  40X30cm.

 Created 2017

Mars Gallop was inspired by the beauty of horses and calming effect of watching them galloping in countless films and documentaries. In this work I combined their majestic splendour in a fairy-tale environment along with red, one of my favourite colours.

I have chosen this work along with Free Spirit to be included in the special purchase selection to be sold either as a pair or individually. I would like them to be on display bringing a sense of unfettered joy to a new owner and their surroundings.

Artists are currently struggling without exhibitions and the chance to physically show our works because of COVID 19

MANGO TREE WISDOMI hope no-one is offended by the timing of this but artists like me are going to struggle without exhibitions and the chance to physically show our works because of COVID 19.

I am a self taught painter whose journey began when I landed in prison just as I was achieving recognition through my photographic work. In November 2018, I was a finalist for the Newcomer category of the Global Arts Awards Dubai, and in 2019 listed as an artist in the International Auction house database. My story is about the power art has to heal and transform people’s lives in the darkest times.

So, for four weeks I am offering some of my favourite original artwork at the lowest price I have ever sold at. It gives me space for new art and supplies for the body and soul to keep me working through the pandemic. I also hope it gives more of you the chance to own and enjoy my original work and who knows, you may become a collector! I had the experience of being locked up so not new to me but now I have the added luxury of my beautiful Bella this time around to help keep me sane.

The one thing that we must learn from the current situation as I did through my experience is that life is full of surprises and we can’t predict the future, so it is important to learn not to take everything for granted. When control is taken away from us, it leads to stress and depression. I learned that you can regain that control through self analysing, looking deep into what makes you unhappy, using art to illustrate by drawing, painting or writing each of those traumatic thoughts or situations in your life to process them on to the memory section of your mind and alleviate the trauma and bringing calm to one’s soul.

A good way to find happiness and distract one self, by doing things you love and exploring new things.

As well as painting I’m also writing a series of articles on how I coped during my incarceration in the hope that my experience may offer some tips to help people during the current crisis and you can follow and interact with me here on in my blog.

As always stay safe and well.

Mango Tree Wisdom

Original artwork. Acrylic on Canvas 81x56cm.

Created 2017

This piece I created from a childhood memory I have, of my great gran back in Colombia and a mango tree that existed at the back of the farmhouse in Bolivar, where my gran and family would go to visit. Every time we went there my aunt and I would go and feast from the enormous mangoes that would simply fall off the tree until we could eat no more. I have very fond memories of those days and my great gran, so decided to paint that memory forty-two years later. It is a precious snapshot in my mind of a moment between my great gran and me.

I was over the moon when I managed to trace a relative and got a photo of the tree sent to me after I had finished the painting and happy to see the similarity of the happy mango tree which you can see in the photo.

I think these precious moments echo in all of us, especially when we are parted, and it would be great to find a new home for this work. That is why I have selected it for the special purchase selection.
