Today I am happy to have completed the painting titled “Stair Way To Heaven”
A 100x100cm Acrylic on Canvas painting, to honour and mourn the loss of my lovely grandmother, who passed away some months ago.
It has been the first time, I have used painting as a therapy to deal with a loss and found it very helpful to unravel the many feeling from such an event, from joyous memories to shedding a few tears seeing her smiling all the time I spent painting and the best way to say fair wells to a very important figure in my life.
It was also great that I managed to finish it today as it was the last day to enter it, for an artist call by a very well know gallery here in London with the theme of (Isolation Mastered) during this pandemic.
The painting is also the first of a series I had been planning to do, of old people before the pandemic even started to illustrate what I though was the disconnect of families and the older generations, where the children who had been looked after by the parents would just go and drop the old parents in a care home and wash their hands instead of paying back for what they did bringing them up, instead a few hours visit from time to time which is what the sad norm for a very high number of people and as seen during this uncertain times the so call safe places have cost thousands of unnecessary deaths in the care home sector due to the lack of leadership at these times.
Any feedback is gratefully appreciated and happy to answer any question or chat with any one that like to have a chat.
