Stair Way To Heaven

Today I am happy to have completed the painting titled “Stair Way To Heaven

Stair Way To Heaven
A 100x100cm Acrylic on Canvas painting, to honour and mourn the loss of my lovely grandmother, who passed away some months ago.

It has been the first time, I have used painting as a therapy  to deal with a loss and found it very helpful to unravel the many feeling from such an event, from joyous memories to shedding a few tears seeing her smiling all the time I spent painting and the best way to say fair wells to a very important figure in my life.

It was also great that I managed to finish it today as it was the last day to enter it, for an artist call by a very well know gallery here in London with the theme of (Isolation Mastered) during this pandemic.

The painting is also the first of a series I had been planning to do, of old people before the pandemic even started to illustrate what I though was the disconnect of families and the older generations, where the children who had been looked after by the parents would just go and drop the old parents in a care home and wash their hands instead of paying back for what they did bringing them up, instead a few hours visit from time to time which is what the sad norm for a very high number of people and as seen during this uncertain times the so call safe places have cost thousands of unnecessary deaths in the care home sector due to the lack of leadership at these times.

Any feedback is gratefully appreciated and happy to answer any question or chat with any one that like to have a chat.

Keep safe.

STAIR WAY TO HEAVEN – WORK IN PROGRESS

STAIR WAY TO HEAVENDear friends,

On this uncertain times and unclear information of where we are going, I thought I share my work in progress (Stair way to heaven) of my grandmother who passed away recently, so decided to paint her as a tribute to her 93 years, her humble and gentle way of living through her journey and being the first model in the series of old people, I am undertaking to commemorate the many thousands that were let down and lost their lives due to this pandemic and government’s failures.

I would be grateful to hear any constructive comments on the work.

Keep safe.

Julio

UNKNOWN LOVE – SPECIAL PURCHASE

facess-wSPECIAL PURCHASE Title : UNKNOWN LOVE

Original artwork. Acrylic on Paper 32x22Inch.

Created 2012

Unknown love, was the third early work created three months after discovering my new passion for painting and the beginning of my journey in prison, in 2012.

This painting was inspired by a reoccurring dream of a woman standing on the water and whose face I could not see or recognised and that would disappear as I walked toward her. Looking back I can only assume that it was due to the uncertainty of a passionate experience would take place.

That was a very hard time in my life. I had been detained in March and was just denied bail and my old life was crushed. I had to close my photography studio and hand my life and myself over to complete uncertainty. I lost control over what would happen next.

Here was where I discovered the calming therapy of painting.

The painful loss of an old life led to a new beginning for me and that is why I have included this work in the special purchase collection. I hope it brings a sense of renewal in the most difficult of times.

Title : DEEP IN THOUGHT

Original artwork. Acrylic on Paper 22x22Inch.

Created 2012

This piece was one of my earlier works from 2012, having discovered the benefits of painting while at the lowest point of my life having landed in prison for retaliatig to an assault from a bouncer at a club.

The inspiration behind this piece was the totl isolation i was experiencing at that time and having had the first visit to the prison library and looked at a book on picasso’s cubist works earlier that day, I wanted to attempt to something with that in mind and this is the end result.

I have selected it for the special purchase collection as I feel that it would be great for it to have a place at someone’s home where it would be appreciated as art and that they see the great chance of adding it to their collection.

LOVING AMY – SPECIAL PURCHASE

SPECIAL PURCHASE

Title : LOVING AMY

Original artwork.

Acrylic on Canvas 60x60cm.

Created 2019

Amy was the first painting I did in the series of Loving Music and has an incredibly special place in my heart due to my love of her music. Her troubled life and her use of art to deal with her mental instability is something I related to and I understood how easily one can spiral out of control at a blink of an eye with unimaginable consequences.

LOVING AMYThroughout that whole series, I used a butterfly to represent the metamorphosis from life to the spirit world and I have chosen this piece to include in the special purchase collection for someone that has close connection with her music and that would enjoy the work.
